Nisha’s Journey & From Where
Shae (Host)
Today we have Nisha, the co-founder of From Where, the platform turning beautifully designed spaces into shoppable experiences.
If you’ve ever walked into a vacation rental and thought, Where did this come from? - her company was built to answer exactly that.
Her career journey spans advertising agencies in Los Angeles, in-house healthcare marketing consulting, and now co-founding a company with her husband, David.
From Where launched in 2024–2025 and today features over 200 storefronts showcasing hosts, designers, and curated spaces across the country. She’s also a mom of two, building a business, raising a family, and proving that creativity and entrepreneurship can thrive right alongside motherhood.
So welcome to the Real Moms Podcast.
Nisha (Guest)
Thank you so much. Thank you for that intro.
Shae (Host)
Absolutely. So we were talking prior to this - tell me a little bit about where From Where came from.
Nisha (Guest)
It’s funny because I find myself saying “from where” all the time. Someone will say something and I’ll be like, from where? - and I’m like, oh, it was perfect.
It basically started with a simple question my husband and I found ourselves asking during our travels. We’d notice different items and think, Where do you think they got that from?
We did some research to see if something like this already existed or if people would actually use it - and it turned out people loved the idea. So we ran with it, and here we are.
Turning Rentals Into Shoppable Spaces
Shae (Host)
I have an Airbnb that used to be a church. It was built in 1970 and sat vacant for two years before we bought it in 2021. We renovated it and now it’s an Airbnb.
People constantly say, Oh, that’s beautiful - where did you get that? How does your platform actually work?
Nisha (Guest)
That’s a great question, and it’s even simpler than you think.
If you want a storefront for your property, you just go to our website and sign up - it literally takes a minute. We just need your listing URL, and our team starts building the storefront by identifying items from your listing photos.
For things like mattresses and linens, we ask for your input so we get it right. Once we build it, we send it to you for approval. You tell us what to add or remove, and then it goes live.
If a guest buys something - like your mattress - it gets shipped directly to them, not removed from your property. You earn a commission from the sale, and we handle everything else in the background.
Shae (Host)
So basically, I don’t have to do anything except promote the storefront?
Nisha (Guest)
Exactly. You just promote it - we handle the rest.
Growth, Challenges & Entrepreneurship
Shae (Host)
What have been some of the biggest challenges you and your husband have faced?
Nisha (Guest)
One of the biggest challenges has been being partners in business and in life. We’re together all the time, and we had to learn boundaries and communication.
We work very differently, but those differences actually complement each other. We bring different perspectives, and that’s been a strength.
Involving Kids in Business
Shae (Host)
Do your kids know what you do?
Nisha (Guest)
They do - especially our nine-year-old. She tells people, My mommy and daddy have a website - fromwhere.com.
Kids are honestly the best promoters. They love wearing our business t-shirts and talking about it. It’s adorable.
How to Sign Up for From Where
Nisha (Guest)
If you go to fromwhere.com, there’s a tab for host and designer registration. You submit your listing link, we build the storefront, send you a preview, and once approved, it goes live.
Then we send you your QR code and storefront link so guests can shop your space easily.
Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Shae (Host)
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
Nisha (Guest)
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You have to try things to figure them out.
You won’t be good at something the first time - and that’s okay. Just start. You can’t be afraid to mess up.
Final Thoughts & Where to Find Nisha
Shae (Host)
Where can people find you?
Nisha (Guest)
Our website is fromwhere.com.
On social media, we’re on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest - @fromwherefinds.
Shae (Host)
Your creativity, vision, and commitment are such a powerful reminder that motherhood doesn’t limit us - it refines us.
And to our listeners: you are resilient, you are capable, and you are absolutely made for an abundant life.
